Let me start off by saying that if you're expecting "gourmet" Chinese food by going to a counter service place like Top King's where 3 items plus rice is somewhere around eight dollars, you're f*cked in the head. This is cheap greasy, but great Chinese food that Westerners love, not a fancy sit-down place. I've been to many of the latter and they can range from amazing to very underwhelming. Although I get a craving for this food at least once a week, I usually only stop by once in a blue moon since calories can add up. I've been coming here for years, these guys know my face!

If I could give the food here 10 stars, I would! It's not for taking it easy on the arteries, but for enjoying once in a while when you get a mad craving. Although I have tried other dishes, I have been consistently getting the same thing for years: "fried rice plus three". Fried rice, curry chicken, spicy pork chops, and fried squid. I've also tried the fish, steamed pork, black bean chicken, beef stew, etc. For the purpose of this review, I'll stick to what I know. The fried rice is the best I've had in the Lower Mainland, because it's somewhere in between greasy and soft. It sticks together a bit, which I love because I like steamed rice but don't enjoy the bland flavour of it. The curry chicken has a flavorful sauce with chopped onions and green pepper, absolutely delicious! The chicken usually comes in the form of drum sticks, thighs, etc. Beware of small sharp bones in the cuts and eat slowly. The spicy fried pork chop isn't too spicy, but a nice sodium kick is present. Meanwhile the pork tastes so good! Squid is one of my favourites! The only complaint regarding food: the squid is only good when it's recently brought out. If it sits out for more than half an hour or an hour, it gets hard and tough and has zero flavour.

All that being said, this place could surely use some improvements. The floor can be ultra slippery at times, likely from the grease. Some of the tables wobble and are full of scratches. The décor is old and outdated. The barred "patio" outside makes you feel like you're in a jail cell. The service can be great, but also horrendous. I saw a guy use the bathroom on the last visit without buying anything and the lady, in front of customers, yelled out "next time you don't come". This can all be relatively standard stuff for Asian establishments offering cheap eats. Anyone that's been to enough of them has seen it for themselves. It's not a stereotype; it's just the honest truth. Also note that due to the sketchers, peddlers, thieves, crackheads, beggars and pimps that surround Surrey Central, this place unfortunately gets its own riff-raff coming through the doors. People watching, amiright?

All in all, however, you're there for the food, which is top-notch! The portions are massive, so you get a good bang for your buck. Top King's is right across the street from Surrey Central skytrain station, and a minute from the bus loop, so it's very convenient for getting some quick take-out that you don't need to call ahead for. The location, and of course the food, are actually the main reasons that have kept me coming back time and time again. Give this place a chance! I highly recommend it!

You can get a filling, under $10, meal of rice and a couple items of your choice. There is a generous amount of rice. The food items are okay quality because everything is under a heat lamp. It is as good as food court quality gets.

A few of the dishes are better than average, (black bean chicken and the soft beef).  The rest are very average.  The price is decent and the portions are generous, but I'm worried about another review that I read for them on Yelp.  It concerned finding metal in their food.  My coworker also complained of finding wire in his meal.  I think it's coming from the wire brush they use to clean their grills.  My coworker complained and was given 1 free meal to make up for 2 days of pain and a trip to the dentist's office.

Updating my 5 stars unfortunately.. So I found this piece of metal in my chicken chow mein.. I am just glad I didn't bite it and break my teeth.. It really pisses me off because I really love this place... I'll still go back but will be more careful when eating and will have to do a serious evaluation of my food.

Standard Chinese fast food place. Pick 2/3 items ($7/$8) on rice, or get chow mein or fried rice for $1 more. Portions are huge and prices are cheap, but the food isn't very good, it certainly doesn't stand up to  what you find at some food courts in Richmond.
